Mastering Mixology

Mastering Mixology provides substantially more experience per herb, more varied gameplay, and rewards that further optimize herblore training. Choose rewards or a number of hours below to add the minigame to your training plan. The calculator accounts for your starting level and desired intensity to determine experience, points, and profit per hour. An order consists of three potions and calculations assume that all three potions are completed correctly for each order.

Money Making

Outside of Mastering Mixology, herblore is usually an expensive skill to train, but there are a couple profitable herblore training methods to maximize GP at lower experience rates per hour.

Cleaning Herbs

Cleaning herbs is a profitable way to train Herblore and can be done quickly by manually clicking each herb, slowly by clicking once and allowing herbs to be cleaned automatically, or by using the Degrime spell in the Arceuus spellbook to clean an entire inventory at once.

To make a profit by cleaning herbs, players simply sell the clean versions for a higher price than the grimy ones on the grand exchange. All herbs have a reasonably high buy limit and large trading volume to support this training method. The table below assumes an AFK, auto-processing strategy, plus time to bank. Up to triple the GP and XP per hour may be gained by manually clicking each herb or using the Degrime spell.

Profitable Potions

Some potions can be profitable or break even to make, however the profitability of these potions can vary hour by hour and change depending on the number of doses sold, so be sure to confirm the latest prices when you purchase or sell on the grand exchange. Guthix Rests are a common choice, but require many ingredients, limiting creation to only 5 potions per inventory. Any other potions listed below have potential for profitability based on their current (3 dose) prices.

Training with Farming

Herblore can be made significantly more profitable by farming the ingredients yourself, plus you get to train farming along the way! These potions depend only on farmed ingredients or ingredients that can be bought cheaply outside of the grand exchange, making their cost negligible.

AFK Training

Herblore is not an AFK skill. The most AFK training options are making Tars and potions that use stackable ingredients, allowing for 27 items to be created at once rather than the typical 14. This provides ~50 second AFK intervals for tars and ~30 seconds for finished potions. These methods tend to be moderately expensive relative to other herblore training methods.
